1. What Are These Guidelines and Whom Do They Bind?
Melyuna is a trust-first dating, friendship, and language-exchange social app open to adults aged 18 and over worldwide. These Community Guidelines set out the standards of behavior that everyone using Melyuna is obliged to follow.
- By using Melyuna, you are deemed to have accepted these guidelines.
- These guidelines apply to your profile, your messages, the photos you share, and all your interactions within the app.
- This document should be read together with the Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and Privacy Notice. To learn how your data is processed, please see the Privacy Notice.
- These guidelines are prepared to be consistent with applicable law (KVKK, GDPR, and generally applicable data-protection and consumer legislation) and with the policies of the app stores (Apple App Store, Google Play).
Melyuna's core principle is simple: Don't do anything here that you would be ashamed to do face to face with the other person in real life.
2. Who Can Use Melyuna?
- Only people who are at least 18 years old can use Melyuna. Date of birth is requested at sign-up solely for the purpose of verifying that you are 18+.
- Melyuna is a global app; it is not tied to any country, school, or university.
- You can sign in to Melyuna with email, Google, Apple, phone number, Telegram, or Facebook.
- Each person may register only with their own identity and only one account. Using someone else's account or identity, or selling or transferring an account, is prohibited; the one-person-one-account principle applies.
- If you are found to be under 18, your account will be closed immediately.
3. Core Rules of Conduct
Everyone on Melyuna is expected to be safe and treated with respect. Following the principles below is mandatory:
- Be respectful. The other person is a Melyuna user and an adult, just like you. Be polite, honest, and respectful.
- Be real. Be yourself; don't pretend to be someone else and don't share misleading information.
- Respect consent. "No" means no. Don't pressure or bother someone who has said they aren't interested.
- Respect boundaries. If someone has blocked you or isn't responding, don't try to reach them through other accounts.
- Respect privacy. Don't share other people's private information, photos, or conversations without permission.
- Show cultural respect. Melyuna is a language-exchange and dating app; you will meet people from different countries, languages, and cultures. Approach differences with tolerance and respect.
- Use the platform for its intended purpose. Melyuna is for meeting people, making friends, learning languages, and socializing; it is not a platform for advertising, sales, political/commercial campaigns, or redirection.
4. Prohibited Content and Behavior
The following content and behavior are strictly prohibited. These apply to all areas, including profiles, messages, photos, display names, and bios.
4.1. Harassment, Bullying, and Threats
- Insults, humiliation, persistent harassment, repeated messaging (stalking-like behavior).
- Threats, blackmail, intimidation; following someone or attempting to bother them in real life.
- Encouraging or steering someone toward suicide or self-harm.
4.2. Hate Speech and Discrimination
- Hatred, humiliation, discrimination, or incitement to violence based on race, ethnic origin, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, or similar characteristics.
- Hate symbols or propaganda for hate groups.
4.3. Sexual Content and Nudity (NSFW)
- Nudity and obscene (pornographic) content are prohibited. Sharing photos/images in which genitals are visible, that contain sexual acts, or that are explicitly obscene is prohibited.
- Sending unwanted sexual messages (e.g., sending a sexual image or sexual text to someone who has not consented) is prohibited.
- Non-consensual intimate images (revenge porn) and the sharing of someone else's private sexual content are strictly prohibited.
- Selling sexual services, escort/prostitution ads, or steering toward them is prohibited.
- Note: Melyuna is a dating app; a person is free to state their own sexual orientation/interest in their profile, and this is not prohibited. What is prohibited is obscene/pornographic content and non-consensual or unwanted sexual content.
4.4. Child Abuse — Zero Tolerance
- People under 18 are strictly not allowed on Melyuna.
- Any and all content related to child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE/CSAM) is strictly prohibited, with zero tolerance. This includes sexual imagery of minors, related implications, text, "child" role-play, grooming (deceiving/preparing a child for abuse), and all similar behavior.
- When such content is detected, the account is closed immediately and permanently (including automatic freezing), the content is preserved, and the competent authorities are notified in accordance with applicable law. No warning, second chance, or appeal process applies in this matter.
- This prohibition is a mandatory requirement of both our community guidelines and the app stores (Apple App Store Guideline 1.2; Google Play Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation — CSAE policy).
4.5. Violence and Illegal Content
- Content that praises, encourages, or plans violence, terrorism, or illegal acts.
- The sale or promotion of drugs, weapons, stolen goods, or illegal products/services.
- Promotion of illegal gambling.
4.6. Fraud (Including Romance Scams)
- Romance scams: Building emotional closeness in order to request money, gifts, cryptocurrency, bill payments, "emergency help," investment opportunities, etc., is strictly prohibited.
- Phishing, fake links, luring people to other platforms in order to defraud them.
- "Investment/earnings" traps, pyramid/Ponzi schemes, fake job/internship offers.
- Safety reminder: Melyuna will never ask you for money. If someone you don't know asks for money, card details, or personal/financial information, don't send it and immediately report + block.
4.7. Spam and Unwanted Content
- Bulk/automated messages, advertising, promotion, link floods.
- Persistent promotions redirecting to other apps, social media accounts, or external sites.
- Using bots/automation to generate engagement.
4.8. Fake Accounts and Identity Fraud
- Using, borrowing, buying, selling, or transferring someone else's account or identity is prohibited. Each account belongs only to its genuine owner; the one-person-one-account principle applies.
- Pretending to be another person, brand, or institution (impersonation).
- Using someone else's photos as if they were your own (catfishing).
- Creating new/fake accounts to evade a ban. (To prevent abuse, Melyuna uses technical measures such as device uniqueness and a hashed ban list; for details see the Privacy Notice.)
5. About Photos
- Your profile and chat photos must be yours and compliant with the rules.
- Using real, current photos in which your face is clearly visible is recommended; this protects the environment of trust.
- Photos containing nudity, obscenity, violence, hate symbols, or that belong to/are used without the permission of others are prohibited (see Section 4).
- Uploaded images may be reviewed by automated tools (including NSFW image scanning) and, where necessary, by the authorized team, for safety and moderation purposes. This review is explained in the Privacy Notice.
6. Messaging and Privacy — What You Need to Know
For your safety, we clearly state the following points:
- Messages are NOT end-to-end encrypted (E2EE). Our authorized technical team can access message content for the purposes of safety, moderation, and report review. All such access is logged. For detailed information, see the Privacy Notice and Privacy Policy.
- Chat content may also be scanned by automated moderation tools (including text scanning and fraud/scam detection); these tools are used only for flagging and prioritization.
- For this reason, relevant parts of conversations may be reviewed by the authorized team during ban decisions and report reviews.
- Lock-screen notifications may show the sender's name and a short message preview; you can restrict this in your device settings.
7. Report and Block — How Does It Work?
Melyuna is built on protecting the community's safety together. If you encounter something that violates the rules, you have three core tools:
7.1. Block
- When you block a user, that person cannot match with you, cannot message you, and cannot see you.
- Blocking works instantly and one-sidedly; the person you block is not notified.
- Blocking can be undone whenever you wish.
7.2. Remove Match
- When you remove an existing match, the chat and connection with that person end.
7.3. Report
- You can notify our moderation team by reporting a profile, message, or behavior.
- When reporting, you can select a category (e.g., harassment, fraud, fake account, inappropriate content, child safety). The correct category speeds up our review.
- Reports are placed in a review queue and reviewed by our team; appropriate action is taken depending on the seriousness of the situation (see Section 8).
- Urgent/serious situations (child safety, threats of suicide, serious threats of violence) are handled as a priority.
In life-threatening emergencies, please first call your local emergency number in the country where you are. Melyuna is not an emergency service.
8. Review and Enforcement Process
8.1. Manual Review
- On Melyuna, ban decisions are manual; there is no automatic ban. Reports and moderation flags are reviewed manually by our authorized technical/moderation team through a review queue.
- During review, the reported content, relevant profile information, and, where necessary, relevant message history (accessible because there is no E2EE) are assessed.
- Automated moderation tools (e.g., the "Hidden Words" text filter, text/image scanning, Turkish scam/fraud detection) are used only for flagging/prioritization; the final enforcement decision is made by a human.
- Exception: When child sexual abuse (CSAE/CSAM) or an underage user is detected, the account is automatically frozen and the competent authorities are notified (see 4.4).
8.2. Possible Enforcement Actions
Depending on the type and seriousness of the violation, one or more of the following measures may be applied:
- Warning: A notice reminding you of the rules.
- Content removal: Removal of a photo, message, or profile field that violates the rules.
- Feature restriction: Temporary restriction of features such as messaging, matching, or uploading.
- Temporary suspension: Freezing the account for a certain period.
- Permanent ban: Permanent closure of the account.
8.3. Situations Requiring an Immediate Permanent Ban
For the following violations, a permanent ban is applied on the first occurrence and without warning:
- Any content or behavior related to child sexual abuse (CSAE/CSAM) — the account is automatically frozen and a legal notification is also made (see 4.4).
- Serious threat of sexual assault, sharing of non-consensual intimate images (revenge porn).
- Serious/organized fraud.
- Repeatedly creating fake accounts to evade a ban.
8.4. After a Ban
- When your account is closed, a hashed (irreversible) form of email and device information may be kept on a ban list to prevent abuse. Raw identity information is not stored. This practice is explained in the Privacy Notice.
- This is intended to prevent a banned person from opening a new account and continuing to harm the community.
9. Right to Appeal
- If you believe an enforcement action has been applied to your account and that it is mistaken, you can appeal via support@melyuna.com.
- In your appeal, please briefly explain your account email and the situation. We will respond as soon as possible.
- Appeals are reassessed fairly, as independently as possible from the person who made the enforcement decision.
- Exception: For child-safety (CSAE/CSAM) violations, the account is automatically frozen and, instead of the standard appeal flow, a direct human review is applied. You can appeal the outcome of that review via support@melyuna.com.
- Independently of the appeal process, you can always exercise your rights regarding your personal data (access, rectification, erasure, etc.). You can also delete your account from within the app; for details see the Privacy Policy and Privacy Notice.
10. Tips for Keeping Yourself Safe
- Have first meetings in public places; tell a friend where you are going.
- Don't give your address, financial information, ID number, or bank/card details to people you don't know.
- Be careful with people who ask you for money, gifts, or investments — this is often a sign of fraud (see 4.6).
- When talking with people from different countries, be respectful of cultural differences; if something bothers you or "seems too good to be true," trust your instincts: block and report.
- You always decide when to share your own personal information.
11. Changes
- These Community Guidelines may be updated from time to time. You will be informed within the app of significant changes.
- The current version is always published within the app and on our website.
- Continuing to use Melyuna after an update means you accept the updated guidelines.
